HEMP - The King of Natural Fibers
The production of hemp fiber is a highly sustainable process, and it is a carbon-negative crop because it actually absorbs carbon dioxide from the air. It requires half the water and land to produce compared to cotton and has three times the tensile strength. It also blends easily with other fibers and does not deprive the soil of nutrients. Instead, hemp returns 60-70% of its nutrients to the soil. Hemp fabric offers a unique combination of qualities. Its appearance is similar to linen, yet its texture is more akin to cotton. It retains its quality with each wash, making it the strongest natural fibers known to man.
Hemp Linen is the new black
Hemp isn't new. It was one of the first plants humans grew. It has been around since the Neolithic Age in China. Hemp was used for food, fiber, and medicine in ancient India, China, and Egypt. European explorers made sails and ropes out of hemp, and Rembrandt and Van Gogh painted on hemp canvases. The American Declaration of Independence was written on hemp paper. However, during the Industrial Revolution, the cotton gin made cotton production more efficient, so hemp production decreased. This was at the cost of the environment.

FAQs
Why hemp linen bedding is more expensive than flax linen bedding?
Cultivating and processing industrial hemp requires a license. It takes a lot of resources to monitor and manage the crop. Natural environments can only grow one crop a year.
Is hemp bedding a right choice for me? What advantages does it have over linen?
Hemp linen is softer and smoother than flax linen, more durable, better anti-bacterial effect, moisture absorption fast and breathable. Flax linen provides more cool feeling, higher moisture absorption.
Does hemp linen bedding shed fibers ?
This is a natural process inherent to the life cycle of hemp linen or flax linen bedding, whereby the fibres relax and soften with age. We advise customers to tumble dry or run a few extra washes on a cold cycle to accelerate the shedding process.
